Accounts Assistant in beautiful Private Medical Practice Central London (City, West End) Start ASAP
Private modern medical practice situated in Central London with beautiful working environment is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant with client facing duties to join a fun and friendly team.
This established specialist independent clinic offers a variety of treatments and provides the highest standard of patient care. It is situated in a pristine refurbished building in the centre of London.
You will be required to work as an Accounts Assistant and half of your time will be spent dealing with patient accounts with face to face contact with patients and the other half of your time will include back office accounts and administration work. You will be dealing with insurance companies and making a log of all payments received and payments due.
The candidate will meet patients who will arrive at the clinic, patients could spend all day meeting the Consultant for a Consultation, visit the nurse, have an x-ray and then have some treatment.
Patients will move around the clinic with a patient card and at the end of their treatments they will meet with the Accounts Assistant who will sit down with them, be very friendly, sympathetic and caring. Some patients may have just found out that they have cancer and may be upset or distressed. The Accounts Assistant will then be required to go through all the charges with the patient explaining costs and asking if there is any insurance covered as well as dealing with appropriate insurance companies. You will also need to liaise with embassies.
Part of the role will include maintaining the purchase order log, keeping a record of all orders made on the computer, entering invoices received/payments due on to the database, checking invoices are authorised for payment, entered on the computerised system under the appropriate category and prepare cheques for signature, maintaining an accurate record of all the practices outgoing expenditure on the database, prepare a variety of management reports, carry out basic analysis of outgoings in response to requests from the Financial Controller and maintaining petty cash systems ensuring an adequate amount is held.
You will also be required to handle and prepare patient invoices, receipts and statements and to log payments on to the database, prepare incoming cheques and cash for banking, chase up non-payment of accounts, prepare regular income reports and analyses in response to requests from the Financial Controller. Other general administrative tasks may be required.
The ideal candidate will need to be enthusiastic and energetic and have an eye for detail. The candidate should have book-keeping and basic accounting experience, and be comfortable handling computerised accounting packages. You will be working closely with a Senior Manager who is responsible for all outgoing expenditure. The position requires daily contact with patients both in person and on the telephone, as well as some back office work and would suit an individual with a medical accounting background who enjoys working as part of a team and has a flexible approach to their workload
You should be professional, smart and presentable with excellent communications skills. You should have good sound accounting skills and have a good competent understanding and working knowledge of accounts. You should also have the ability to speak with patients in a diplomatic and sensitive but firm manner. You will also have previous medical experience and have dealt with insurance companies. You will need to be resilient and be confident with asking for payments and a high standard of confidentiality should be maintained at all times.
Only those who are able to work well under pressure and to deadlines as well as managing their own time need apply. There will be flexibility working the 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
