Austin Benn Requirements for Success

What we look for - What qualifications or experience do I need to become an Austin Benn Recruitment Consultant?

There are no ‘hard and fast’ rules in our requirements; some of our consultants are graduates, some are not; some are hugely experienced, some are not. What is required in each and every one of our consultants is the right blend of personal qualities. We look for the right spirit, determination to succeed and enthusiastic attitude in combination with experience in either sales or customer service. We require hard work and dedication and look to recruit individuals that will embrace our values on our daily basis.

As every consultant becomes an expert in their vertical sector it is imperative that you have an inquisitive mind and a passion for developing your own knowledge. Our most successful consultants take it upon themselves to immerse themselves within their chosen specialist vertical sector and can often be found in their own time at trade events, networking fairs and seminars!

We typically recruit two types of individuals either experienced, proven consultants who can really complement our business or ‘raw talent’. Austin Benn is a meritocracy and promotion through our business is ‘set in stone’ against meeting milestones, targets and key performance indicators.

Previous recruitment experience is not essential however due to the investment in training and the fantastic opportunity to succeed at Austin Benn we are very, VERY choosy!

This you will see from our requirements for success detailed below:

As a minimum you will have demonstrated a proven track record of sales in a targeted and competitive sales environment. Training is industry leading and first class.

Typically you will be part of a team with over 8 years of client and candidate data at your fingertips. We use the most advanced CV searching software available and have recently made a huge investment in integrating CV parsing technology into our business. In addition we have our own industry leading website (you’re looking at it!) and access into the majority of the major job boards.

As a specialist sales recruitment consultant the role will combine new business development in a dedicated sector - we call them our vertical sectors. You will therefore work within a niche vertical sector and be tasked with ‘building a world’ – a network of clients and candidates in the vertical sector in which you choose to operate.

This is NOT a 70 calls a day sales environment but a structured strategic one. We do not target our consultants on the quantity of sales calls they make and encourage our consultants to meet every client and every candidate.

We look for the following core competencies and expect all applicants to excel in the majority of them in order to compliment our teams:

Commercial Skills – You will have solid, well rounded commercial skills. You will be confident, assertive and business development oriented.
Socially Confident - The culture is highly goal oriented, positive and driven by continuous learning and personal development. You must have an innate ability to build rapport and trust at all levels. You will be trustworthy and work with great integrity
Multitasking – It is a very busy role where you must be able to manage lots of projects at once. You must be able to plan and prioritise.
Communication - You must have excellent communication skills and an ability to sell at the most senior levels. You must have superb listing skills – to succeed you must be an actively engaged listener who hears every detail. You will be intuitive, able to manage occasionally difficult situations and be a people-person.
Professional - You must be highly professional and thorough – you must ensure that every possible angle is covered - good enough is never good enough!
Self Aware - You will place a high value on your own self-worth and be a very proud and determined individual. Our best consultants place a high value on self improvement.
Tenacious - You will be resolute and able to persevere – someone who can always take the ‘rough with the smooth’ and someone who is always willing to ‘go the extra mile’.
Consistent - You will have a consistent persona with great ability to build rapport, understand needs and provide solutions. You will be the kind of person that has a history of building long-standing business partnerships.

In addition to all of this you will be well presented and a dedicated team player.
